Ghassan was ranked at the 41st place in the list that included the region’s foremost business owners across several sectors

Dubai: Ghassan Aboud, the UAE based entrepreneur and philanthropist was listed amongst the list of “The Middle East’s Top 100 Tycoons” published by Forbes Middle East (December 2019/January 2020 issue). Ghassan was ranked at the 41st place in the list that included the region’s foremost business owners across several sectors.

As the promoter of the 25-year-old Ghassan Aboud Group, Ghassan initially commenced business in the automotive domain but eventually diversified into a large multi-business conglomerate with offices in the UAE, Australia, Belgium, Jordan and Turkey.

The group is engaged in automotive, hospitality, real estate, food, retail, media, logistics and pastoral businesses. Notably, Ghassan Aboud is also the promoter of Australia’s preeminent luxury hospitality brand Crystalbrook Collection which manages assets to the tune of A$ 1 billion.

While releasing the list, Forbes Middle East states that “Family business in the Middle East contributes heavily to the region’s economy. PwC estimates that the sector contributes 60% to GDP and 80% of the workforce. $1 trillion is estimated to pass from one generation to the next within the next decade.”

Elaborating on the methodology followed, Forbes further mention that “The Middle East’s Top 100 Business Tycoons list was created by gathering information about business people in the region through our database and questionnaires. As a majority of businesses are family owned, we factored the information available to disclose.”

The report further underlines that the factors taken into account included business size, business scope, investments and market capitalization.
